The oven rack can be very difficult to clean, especially if it’s used frequently and has built up dirt. Let’s see how to get it looking like new again.
Food debris and caked-on grease could even render your oven rack unusable.
Oven rack: why it gets dirty
The oven is an excellent ally for preparing meals. Whether static or fan-assisted, the oven is equipped with internal racks that allow you to place baking trays or containers containing food. The oven rack (although they may vary) can be positioned at different heights thanks to a sliding system.
When cooking, it’s inevitable that you’ll get dirty, and just as the stovetop can get dirty, the same goes for the oven rack. Cleaning this part of the appliance can be a real hassle. In fact, in some cases, the chemicals sold for this purpose, which promise great results, don’t quite deliver.
Luckily, there’s a very quick and fairly natural way to perfectly degrease your oven rack. While it may seem unusual, it’s actually so effective you’ll be surprised.
How to clean it quickly:
First, you’ll need a very large bag, like the ones used for throwing away garbage. The bag must be large enough to hold the oven rack. Next, you’ll need a dishwasher detergent tablet. If you don’t have one, don’t worry, you won’t have to go out and buy one. All you need to do is replace the tablet with a regular laundry detergent.
Next, you’ll need a bowl to place the tablet or detergent. Pour hot water directly onto the tablet in the bowl so the contents dissolve thoroughly. Of course, the water shouldn’t be too hot, otherwise you might puncture the bag. If the tablet hasn’t dissolved completely, you can use a fork to speed up the process.

You’ll need to add 3 or 4 tablespoons of baking soda to the mixture. This will create a very powerful combination capable of removing even the most stubborn grease. Pour the liquid into the bag. Make sure it’s not too thick and the bag doesn’t burst.

At this point, the bag must be tightly closed to prevent accidental leaks. Then, place the bag with the rack inside on a flat surface. The oven rack,
In the bag, it should sit for about two hours. If it’s very dirty, extend the time, for example, by letting it sit overnight.
After the required time, remove the grill from the bag and rinse it under running water. There’s no need to scrub it. It’ll be as good as new and ready to be used again.
